Beijing has built a pretty good public transportation system thanks to the 2008 Olympic Games. As we know, there were only five metro lines and the total length was 142 kilometers in Beijing before 2008. In 2008, two new lines were come into service, about 150 kilometers of new rail transport were added. By the end of 2014, there will be 17 metro lines in this city, the total length will be more than 500 kilometers. However, as far as I know, without the 2008 Olympic Games, the government would not resolve to support public transportation system strongly. Then the transportation system would not develop so rapidly and people’s life would not be as convenient as it does now.
